Pierced Wondering - A weekend wrap up post with intentions and goals for the coming week - http://www.piercedwonderings.com

There are weekends and then there are weekends. This weekend was one of those incredible weekends. I feel like I say that a lot, but it’s true. It seems like we have a tendency to live for the weekend, and because I’m not here most of the week, we pack a lot into the time we have together.

We started by meeting friends at the newly opened Chandeleur Brewing Company in downtown Gulfport. There was no cornhole tournament this time, but we sure did have a good time sampling the beers and hanging out with our friends. (My favorite beer was the coconut porter, although the watermelon wheat was pretty tasty as well.

Saturday we made our way out to look at a house, and we were really impressed. There’s a bunch of work to be done there, although not so much that it’s not doable. We’re going to proceed and hopefully start the process of becoming homeowners this week.

I have to say – I have a ton of anxiety about being a homeowner. I bought a condo in 2001, and for the three years that I was a homeowner, I was terribly anxious and worried the entire time. I am hopeful that this time it will be different. Last time it was just me, and the house was really more than I could afford, which is never a good idea. We’ve been pretty smart this time. I am fairly certain that even with the taxes and the insurance, we won’t be paying much more than we are now. So that’s good.

But it does mean I have been anxious.

As soon as we finished looking at the house, we made our way New Orleans…where it rained on us almost the entire time. After a quick trip to Costco, we made our way into the French Quarter for a bit of anniversary fun and celebration.

First stop? The Oyster Bar Desire where we had oysters and cocktails to get the afternoon of to a good start.

Holy crow those were some excellent oysters! And they were big! One of them was as big as my hand. Huge.

The waiter warned us about the horseradish, and we both kinda smirked. Sweet Husband even said, “Pfffft. Like this is my first rodeo.” And then we a few moments where our eyes were watering because the horseradish was that hot. But it was good.

From there we wandered into and out of a few bars and enjoyed a few many drinks – including some absinthe before heading into the Cats meow for some karaoke. While I was drinking & singing, SH was chatting up some Canadians who were there for Nola Navy Week.

We slept in this morning because we got home late last night, and today has been about recovery and the making of plans. The parents came by, and we rode them over to the house we’re thinking about before heading out for some lunch. There was a lovely nap in there and some breakfast for supper. Really a great way to end the weekend.

Weekly Intentions

One of the things that I like to do on Sundays is to think about what I want to accomplish in the coming week. I set intentions for myself and get focused on what has to happen in order for me to accomplish those goals. I usually break those goals into different categories.

Professional

  • Schedule my PRAXIS exam for a special education endorsement
  • Get organized with the professional development hours that teachers need
  • Watch the videos for my next round of PD (nothing to sneeze at – it’s 20 hours)

Personal

  • Get things together to prequalify for a mortgage
  • Finish one of the two books I’m reading

Creative

  • Get consistent with my posting schedule
  • Complete my work for the blogging course I’m taking
  • Take photos with the BCG this week

How was your weekend? What was the best part of it for you? And what are you looking forward to this week?
